Q. I’m on a trip and my recreational vehicle breaks down. How do I start a claim?

A. It’s easy. You can visit any dealer or licensed repair facility in the United States or Canada for repair service. Then have the Service Center the toll-free number in your Service Contract. Your problem then becomes our responsibility. We discuss the diagnosis, approve the covered repairs, and authorize the work to start immediately. All you have to do is wait for the work to be completed. And our contracts (See a sample Motor Home Service Contract or Travel Trailer, Horse Trailer, Fifth Wheel, Camper Service Contract provide excellent benefits to ease the financial burden for towing, trip interruption, road service, parts and inspection delay, and lost key/lock-out service.

Otherwise, if you’re at home – while any dealer or repair facility will perform service – we recommend that you return to the selling dealership because of its continued and personal interest in you. Please instruct the dealership or repair facility to call the toll free number in your Service Contract before any repair or teardown is done. If your vehicle is still under manufacturer warranty, return the vehicle to a manufacturer authorized dealer for your repairs.

Q. How Will My Claim Get Paid?

A. You don’t have to pay anything out of pocket other than your deductible. We’ll pay the repair facility by check or credit card, or we can also reimburse you by check if you choose to pay for the repairs yourself. Check payment usually takes less than seven working days from the time we receive the repair order. Credit card payment can usually be made within a few hours of repair order receipt.

Q. Is the deductible charged on each item?

A. No. You only pay one deductible per occurrence. So if there are several covered repairs needed (and there often are), you still pay only the one deductible.

Q. Does my recreational unit require an inspection before Southeast will cover it?

A. If your unit is covered under a Factory/Manufacturer’s warranty or is otherwise less than 30 days old and has less than 1000 miles, an inspection is not required. Otherwise, yes, you’ll need to have a licensed facility inspect your unit and provide us documentation of its condition.

Q. How long does it take to get my Elite Extended Warranty coverage?

A. Once we have your application information (including inspection information if required), it usually takes less than two weeks for you to receive your Service Contract.

Q. Can I transfer my contract when I sell my vehicle?

Yes, all you need to do is send a photocopy of the original contract, a photocopy of the state-issued vehicle title, photocopies of all maintenance records and a completed transfer application signed by you and the purchaser of your vehicle. Call us to have a transfer application mailed or faxed to you. Your complete transfer request must be received within 30 days of the sale of the vehicle.

NOTE: Any manufacturer's warranty must also be transferred at the same time as vehicle ownership transfer. The term and/or coverages under some vehicle manufacturer's warranties are reduced upon transfer to a subsequent vehicle owner. Breakdowns to components covered by the manufacturer during the term of the original manufacturer's warranty are not covered under this contract regardless of transfer.

Q. Can I decide to cancel my contract?

A. Yes, you’ll need to notify us in writing. Then you will receive a pro-rated refund minus the standard cancellation fee.

Q. How likely is it that my recreational vehicle will break down?

A. It’s really not a matter of “if” for most units, it’s a matter of “when” and what components(s) will fail over time. Your odds of a breakdown go up each year you own it, and so do the odds that parts and labor will continue to escalate. As an example, more than 30% of all motor homes will need major repairs in only their second year. This escalates to more than 3 in 4 by their fifth year and nearly 100% by Year Eight. That’s because today’s recreational vehicles are more complex, and more things can go wrong. See an example table of motor home repair costs

Q: How secure is my investment in an Extended Warranty from Southeast Financial?

A: Southeast Financial’s Extended Warranties (Service Contracts) are administrated by Performance First, a large wholesale insurer which has been in business for over 25 years. In turn, your program is insured by General Fidelity Insurance Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of Bank of America. So your investment is very secure.

Q: What types of recreational vehicles do you NOT cover?

A: We do not cover vehicles other than motor homes, travel trailers, horse trailers, fifth wheels and campers – either new or used. Also, motor homes cannot have a retail selling price more than $500,000, and the unit can be no more than 12 years old (model versus current year) or have more than 100,000 miles. Travel trailers, campers, horse trailers cannot have a retail selling price of more than $200,000.
